Falling is one of the greatest threats to the health and well being of people over 65 years of age. One in three people over 65 years fall each year. But falling is not an inevitable part of getting older. Many falls can be prevented.
The Falls Prevention for the Greek and Italian Communities Project was conducted April 2005 – March 2006. The Project was funded under a grant from the Australian Government Department of health and ageing, and auspiced by Metropolitan Domiciliary Care. Project partners were Ethnic Link Services, Osteoporosis SA and the University of South Australia.
The project worked with the Greek and Italian Communities to build their capacity to prevent falls amongst older members of their communities. Resources developed from the project are available from this website or the COASIT office.
